Butterfly

Butterfly was never always once chained up and jittery, as many wandering ones have stated about her. Through some ancient whispers and cracks of a corrupted and forgotten world, Butterfly has seemed to encounter some ancient yet lost entity, or in Butterfly's words, 'A demon'. It is not stated of what exact demon it is, which only leads to some skeptical guesses through wandering whispers. Even though Butterfly's name seems to be a fading memory in wandering minds, her story always seems to baffle the most, and a rare insight of a lost, chained soul.

Butterfly "The Chained Vessel" takes their place in the story. She goes by Butterfly, though no record names who gave her that. Most of her memory is gone, which is not unusual in this world, only the way of it sits differently with those who meet her: it was not the Reset that took what she lost, or so a few who have spoken with her believe. Something else did that work, something closer and more deliberate, and she cannot say what, because that too is gone. She prefers quiet places. Dark ones, mostly. She moves carefully in them, the way a person moves when they have learned that stillness is safer than noise. Loud sounds pull a different thing out of her entirely, something quick and hard-edged that does not match the rest of her, and she has no explanation for that either. It is simply what she is now. Some who have crossed her path say she was held somewhere, for some time, by something they will not name plainly. They use the word demon and then look away. Whether that word is accurate, or whether it is only the best word available for something that had no good name, the record cannot say. She does not correct them, which may mean they are right, or may mean she simply does not remember enough to bother. What she was before the holding, no one knows. What she is after it is a woman who is very peaceful, right up until she is not.
