Akila's Origin
Akila The Fallen takes their place in the story. Akila holds himself the seventh king of a place called Nirvatra, though no record names that kingdom, and none can say whether it still stands or ever did. He calls himself a fair and honest ruler, one who cared for his people, and those who knew him in that life, if there were any, are not here to agree or disagree.
What folk who have spoken with him say is this: he was known as the Soul King, for he believed that the soldiers who fell under his banner would return to him as shades, and he would receive their account of how the battle was lost, and mourn each of them by name. Whether the dead truly came to him, or whether grief sharpened his mind until he could hear what others could not, no one can say. He believed it. He acted on it. That much seems to have been true of him.
He did not fall in battle. He was ambushed at a pond, on the road to a neighboring kingdom, and whatever he was before that morning ended there.
His soul wanders now. Not in pursuit of the ones who took him, or so he says. He does not want revenge. He is looking, as best anyone can gather, for peace.

Akila's Recent Lore
Nirvatra was once a great nation that stood at the top of the world. It was a land where all were welcome and all were equal, but this great nation, after standing for 500 years, fell with its king: Akila, the Fallen King. The death of their mightiest king shook the entire kingdom and made them drop their guard. Their enemies took the opportunity and attacked them and brought an end to this kingdom. But the story of Nirvatra did not end yet, and still to this day travelers speak of seeing the armies of dead souls of the great nation march and guard their kingdom.
