Harper Serene's Origin
Harper Serene the Timewalker takes their place in the story. Harper arrived by no road anyone has mapped, and he cannot say where he came from. He speaks of a rift in time, a gap between one moment and the next, and what he found on the other side of it was this world. Whether the rift was a thing that happened to him or a thing he caused, he does not say, or perhaps does not know. No record corroborates his account, and none contradicts it either.
He has not given up on returning. But the world has a way of slowing a man down, and Harper is, by his own admission, too curious for his own good. The ruins draw him. The old writing draws him. The questions that serious people have learned to leave alone draw him most of all.
Whether what he is looking for will help him go home, or whether it will simply be the last thing he ever looks for, the record cannot say.
Harper Serene's Life So Far
Harper Serene arrived by no road anyone has mapped, carrying only his name and a memory he described as shattered. He spoke of a rift in time, a Seam as the journal he would later find calls such tears, and what lay on the other side was this world. Whether he caused the rift or merely fell through it, he has never said. His first days were spent hungry and directionless until a dark forest produced a ruin he called the Kryptarum, naming it aloud without knowing how the word reached him. Inside lay scattered tomes of enchantment and one journal written in a script he recognized without being able to read. He took everything and walked on until NorthHelm opened its gates to him, and The_WitherKing gave him a place within its walls.
What followed was a widening of his reach in every direction. A nether portal carried him to an abandoned town in a mountain pass north of NorthHelm, a place whose own records named it Silverdell, founded once by an elven prince called Thaerlian to provide safe passage through a silver-rich pass. The settlement's book fell silent mid-entry, and Harper's working theory is that some cataclysm brought it to ruin, though he holds it as theory only. He rescued strange, ethereal creatures from an Illager outpost, creatures he determined to be fairy-like in nature, fond of music and amethyst, and released most of them into the blue-tinted spire he had named the Sylvan Woods, keeping one, whom he named Fae. A platinum-furred horse named Quicksilver carried him west across a continent of forests, savannas, jagged peaks, and ice-fanged snowfields, gathering more tomes as he rode. The return journey ended in catastrophe: horse and rider were buried beneath a mountain's snow, and as the cold reached him, Harper's lips formed an incantation he did not consciously know. A Seam opened and drew him home. He reached for Quicksilver. The Seam closed. The horse's grave he has marked as Mt. Silver, and he does not speak lightly of it.
His translation of the Kryptarum journal has begun to yield something. The tome concerns the nature of time itself, how it flows and breaks and, the text seems to claim, how it may be controlled. The word Seam appears in it as a term of craft, not accident. How Harper's lips shaped that incantation in the snow, and what it means that more memories surface each time a Seam opens near him, the record cannot say. He has turned his eye southward now, toward a massive island glimpsed across coastal waters, and he speaks of gathering like-minded people into something he is calling an Adventurer's Guild. The ruins, as he himself has noted, are not finished with him.
Harper Serene's Recent Lore
I have recently been made aware of that there is a land named Genesis in this world. The Genisis I come from is not the same one that is in this world. Just to make sure the Chronicle doesn't make the wrong note.
Stories of the Past: Reset began, and my spell was disrupted. It made it so that it wouldn't be destroyed by the Reset, but not fully. I tried one last spell to protect myself, and it worked, just in a way I didn't expect. A Seam opened up and dragged me through it, twisting most of my memories, but unable to remove them entirely. Then, I woke up in this new world, where my story here began. My memories may be intact, but there still may be some secrets hidden within them.
Stories of the Past: distant world, where time and space were unraveling. I was sent to try and stabilize it, so I did not hesitate to begin. I started in the world in a building called the Kryptarum, and I used it as my base in the world. However, the state of decay was far too late to reverse. But sensing how time flows in the world, I knew that I could potentially stabilize it in the next cycle. I wrote down all my notes in The Timewalker's Guide to the Temporum and began a spell to try and protect the Kryptarum from the chaos of what I heard others call the Reset, but was too late. The ...
Stories of the Past: historian, writing up on all the events happening across the worlds. But my true calling was being a Timewalker. Many people in Genesis have extraordinary powers, and mine was no exception. I was born with a direct connection to the Temporum, the source of all time, allowing me to use it for whatever I may need. I controlled time itself, and used that power to research other worlds and saving worlds from collapse. By using gadgets, like the Timekeeper, I could make the job easier. One day, however, my mentor and fellow Timewalker, Helix Chronon, detected an anomaly on a ...
Stories of the Past: Ever since the First Battle of the End, I have been working on the translation of the journal from the Kryptarum, which is called "The Timewalker's Guide to the Temporum". While I work on translation, I figured I might as well write down the memories of my past. I was, and technically still am, a member of the island nation of Genesis, a prosperous land where many of the greatest beings of the worlds reside. In Genesis, I had a few different roles. I was a tinkerer, fixing up all manner of gadgets, with a certain fondness for clockwork, especially watches. I was also a ...
Harper Serene's Telling of the First Battle of the End: the full answer, but I do know that whatever happens next, I will face it head-on. The journal needs to be translated, Harper Serene the Timewalker will not wait to begin.
Harper Serene's Telling of the First Battle of the End: someone I could not identify, the Dragon erupted in a flash of violet rays and rose to the sky, before exploding into nothingness. The Seam, no longer able to sustain itself without the Dragon's energy, was closed. The battle was won. The people celebrated, and the one named ItsNoxen claimed the egg as a trophy. Slowly, the noise grew quiet, and the people either began to explore the Outer End or return to their homes. I was left with a question for me and me alone: what do I do now? I return to my own home not yet knowing ...
Harper Serene's Telling of the First Battle of the End: into it, I couldn't stop it fast enough, and it consumed me. But what should have been my grave became my rebirth. I remembered all of my past life, all of what I knew, and the power that I held within my grasp. I could manipulate the Temporum to travel through time. With my past restored, I used all of my effort to plunge the Temporum's Edge into the very heart of the Seam. I spoke the incantation and restored time to its proper place. Everyone was ripped out of the Seam, back into the End, to finish the fight. With a final blow from one ...
Harper Serene's Telling of the First Battle of the End: a powerful energy of its own, and I knew what to do. I raised the blade and plunged it deep into the Seam, reversing its effect. Everyone was brought back, and the fight continued. The battle itself was, to put it simply, a mess. The Seam would not remain calm, however, and once again drew everyone within, but knowing what to do, I once again reversed it. Time was literally of the essence, so I began my own attack on the Dragon. The fight was nearing its end, when the Seam, in one final attempt, tried to destroy everything. As I was dragged ...
Harper Serene's Telling of the First Battle of the End: Ender Dragon had awoken. But what I alone saw confirmed the worst: a massive Seam had opened within the End. The Seam released an extreme amount of energy, strengthening the Dragon further. The effects of the Seam were felt by everyone, including myself, tearing time asunder. The people of the kingdoms fought the Dragon, but I was trying to stabilize the Seam. As the battle progressed, the Seam raged, causing many to be lost within it, including myself. I thought that all was lost, until the Temporum's Edge began radiating ...
